The Wisdom of Lived Experience
So much of what I’ve learned, and what I bring into my teaching and work, hasn’t come from my extensive book collection or many academic trainings.
It’s come from direct experience.
The lessons that have landed are the ones I’ve lived.
Through the Body: I’ve learned to slow down and listen. To feel. To trust.
🧘🏻♀️ A car accident that left me feeling broken taught me to honor my body’s way of communicating, even through pain and discomfort.
🧘🏻♀️ Decades of movement practice (dance, yoga, somatics) have brought deep joy, pleasure, and compassion into my body and taught me the power of commitment and consistency.
🧘🏻♀️ Working with energy has refined my sensitivity.
🧘🏻♀️ Feeling my feelings has deepened my intuition.
🧘🏻♀️ Building physical strength has expanded my capacity.
🧘🏻♀️ These daily movements down and in have shown me who I am, what I know, what I value, and what true expression feels like from the inside out.
From the Earth : I’ve learned that beauty and chaos can coexist, that change is inevitable, and that cycles and seasons are part of the dance.
🌎 Growing up on an island cultivated my connection to land and place. It taught me I am not separate from nature, but shaped by it, and constantly feeding energy back into it.
🌎 A lifetime of play in wild, natural spaces has helped me slow down, feel more deeply, and respond to the interplay of elements and seasons. I've learned to feel how those same elemental rhythms move through me.
🌎 The earth has shown me that storms come and go, and sometimes, they’re a necessary cleansing to reveal unexpected blessings and beauty on the other side.
Refined in Motherhood : I’ve come to see that letting go of control, meeting chaos with presence, and trusting what is, is a constant practice of patience, perseverance, and self-discovery.
🤱🏼 Motherhood is stretching my edges and revealing more of who I am, in both my wounds and my wisdom.
🤱🏼 It’s deepening my trust in myself and my capacity, while also illuminating my vulnerability and the essential needs that keep me resourced.
🤱🏼 It’s filled my cup with simple pleasures, constant play, and ebullient joy.
🤱🏼 And it’s wrung me out entirely through lack of sleep and relentless demands.
🤱🏼 But most of all, it’s shown me that I am part of an ongoing becoming. That my heart will continue to grow and lead the way as I get to know countless versions of my daughter, and myself, in the lifetime ahead.
Body, Earth, and Motherhood are my steady constants right now.
They’re where I return again and again to find and feel myself, and to remember how I relate to all of life.
These are the places where I can resource, reckon, and recalibrate.
Each remind me that change is the only constant. Each one teaches me how to show up present, connected, responsive, and grounded in the knowing that I am part of a larger unfolding.
This is the steady backdrop of my work right now, the foundation fueling me as I move through my own season of change. It’s what's supporting the clarity and purpose calling me forward in service.
